Media go-ahead

27th November 1998 at 00:00
A teaching qualification in media education is to be introduced following a campaign by the General Teaching Council, backed by directors of education.

The GTC has expressed delight that Helen Liddell, the Education Minister, has given the go-ahead. Matthew McIver, depute registrar, said the decision acknowledged the importance of the media in society. "The subject will be an important aspect of the Higher Still programme and of the interface between secondary and further education."
