Melville's honour

Further Education Funding Council chief executive Professor David Melville is to be awarded an honorary doctorate by Middlesex University which he served as vice-chancellor from 1992 to 1996.

Dr Colin Wharton, principal of Woodhouse Sixth-Form College in Finchley, London, has also been given an honorary masters degree by the university.
