I wonder if anyone has considered taking a random group of pupils six months after they've finished school, and getting them to take their GCSE's again - with a fesh set of papers and no access to former notes or textbooks allowed.
I wonder how they would fare - and how many teachers would dare to test their pupils memories in this way.
So what are league tables for and what is the point of it all? Even Einstein had to use notes to jog his memory.
If we focused onquality not quantity in schools, I am sure we would get much better results.
