Motherwell College, which three years ago had an accumulated deficit of almost pound;1 million, was the only UK college nominated for the finance team of the year award, sponsored by Accountancy Age magazine. It took second place to Selfrdges, the London department store. The latest edition of Noble's, the FE financial yearbook, shows Motherwell with the third lowest staff costs at 52 per cent of total expenditure against a Scottish average of 61 per cent.
