Mind the skills gap
Skills gaps are growing across the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries, says a new report. More than a quarter of employers (26 per cent) report that they employ people currently who lack the necessary skills for the job, according to the State of the Nation Report 2010 launched by the sector skills council People 1st yesterday. The proportion two years ago was 19 per cent. This equates to around 180,000 people who are not fully proficient in these industries, which is up from 140,000 in 2007.
