Minister's links are a concern

The news that Ruth Kelly, is a member of Opus Dei should concern all of us who believe in a secular, multi-cultural and inclusive society.

Opus Dei has always had an authoritarian agenda on social and political issues. It is uncomfortable with democratic values and has in the past actively supported the Nazis, Franco, Pinochet and other fascist dictators.

It is very worrying, therefore, that a member of such an organisation should obtain a high position in government.
