Mod Studies - Here's to the next election

7th May 2010 at 01:00

With one election behind us - just - pupils in Scottish schools will now be able to gear up for the Scottish elections next year, thanks to new materials from the Scottish Parliament.

The resources, which have been trialled in schools and are designed to support Curriculum for Excellence, can be used in various subjects, from RME to English.

They include an introduction to Scotland's parliamentary system and sections that look specifically at elections, debates, committees and petitions.

The resources are a mixture of teacher notes and worksheets which can be copied or displayed on a screen. Although aimed at primary and lower secondary, some activities could be used with older groups as a citizenship resource.
