More beacons to light the way

More beacons to light the way ANOTHER 300 schools, acknowledged as among the best in the country, are to be awarded Beacon status in a continuing campaign to raise standards in classrooms by sharing good practice.

"I want to encourage lower perorming schools to twin with Beacon schools so that they do not have to face the challenges alone," said Estelle Morris, school standards minister, when she announced the pound;18 million expansion of the scheme which now includes 550 schools.
