However supercharged your batteries, they do have a limited lifespan - until now. The Pure Energy Battery Corporation is distributing the first rechargeable, mercury-free alkaline batteries. Known as RAM (rechargeable alkaline manganese) cells, they last ten to 50 times as long as conventional alkaline batteries. The simple charger fits into a 13 amp wall socket. They contain no toxic chemicals and because they last longer, fewer are thrown away. Initially available in AA size, with AAA size to follow. Details: 01635 871844.
