Murrayfield pep talk

2nd May 1997 at 01:00
The Scottish Schools Sports conference at Murrayfield Stadium on May 31 takes on greater significance with Government plans to target lottery money at school-based projects and develop specialist sport schools.

It is the first conference of the school sports bodies for two years. The Scottish Office had asked for recommendations to boost school sport, Charles Raeburn SSS chairman said, and "this conference will discuss ways to expand the levels of participation and quality".

Conference details from Mary Anderson, Scottish Sports Council, Caledonia House, South Gyle, Edinburgh EH12 9DQ (0131 317 7200).
