Name dropped

20th May 2005 at 01:00
The Secondary Heads Association is looking for a new name. It feels the present name no longer reflects its membership, in which deputies and assistants outnumber heads and college principals are a growing element.

Members are being consulted but the Diary would like to help.

Leadership has to be the name of the game. Secondary Leaders Association would be the simplest change, but SLA sounds a bit uninspiring and still doesn't cover colleges.

How about the Association of College and School Leaders, to be pronounced "axle"? Driving change and all that?

One droll suggestion has come from members so far: NTM - as in, Not Teaching Much.
