The room where education leaders hold their meeting in the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities' Edinburgh headquarters is totally inadequate, North Lanarkshire's Charlie Gray has complained. "I come here with a hearing aid and I only hear half of what I need to hear," Gray said.

"That's probably all you need to hear," quipped Edinburgh's Elizabeth Maginnis.
