12th August 2005 at 01:00
The Woodcraft Folk, the progressive alternative to scouts and guides, has elected a new chair.

Richard Lace, 25, who has been a member of the Woodcraft Folk since the age of six, will head the organisation following the loss of its annual pound;52,000 grant from the Department for Education and Skills earlier this year.

He hopes to take the lead in organising a festival next summer for 5,000 young people from 80 countries.
