New mums to get free book

MOTHERS of all newborn babies will receive a free book on caring for their children as part of a campaign to end child abuse.

More than 600,000 copies of the 36-page Baby's First Year will be distributed to maternity wards this year by the National Societ for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

The books - - which cost pound;354,000 to produce - give practical advice and information about child development and have space for parents can stick photographs and record milestones in the child's life.
