New qualification for support staff

4th June 2004 at 01:00
A new national vocational qualification for school support staff will be introduced later this summer. It will be available initially at level two - equivalent to five good GCSEs - although there are proposals to offer it to higher levels in later years.

Staff will study two core units covering pupil care and support and team working. These will be combined with at least two others units in areas such as information technology, laboratories and administration.
