Winners of this year's TES Newspaper Day could earn their schools an Apple Macintosh Performa or an Acorn Risc PC, with Casio Digital Cameras for the runners-up, as well as a day at the House of Commons. The competition requires schools to use real news in producing a newspaper on one day, either 13 or 14 of March.

The judges will look for creative exploitation of new technology, journalistic nous and enterprise. Only the first 400 schools to apply can register. Details: Brian Robinson, TVECCPrissick Base, Marton Road, Middlesbrough TS4 3RZ. Fax: 01642 310078. E-mail: newsday@campus.bt.com
