News in brief: Creative drive

The Government has announced 1,125 new apprenticeship places for 16- to 24-year-olds who are looking for a career in the creative and cultural industries. Kevin Brennan, apprenticeships minister, announced funding for the National Skills Academy for Creative amp; Cultural Skills to create 250 new apprenticeships in 2010, a further 400 in 2010 to 2011, and thereafter to annually enrol 450 apprentices.
