This year's annual conference of the Mathematical Association is being hosted by the Yorkshire branch and will be held at Trinity and All Saints College, Leeds from April 10 to April 13. The theme of the conference is "Maths For All Ages" and April 11 will have a primary focus.
Key-note speakers include Bernard Rutzier, chairman of the International Committee for Computer Algebra in Mathematics, on "Teaching Mathematics in the Computer Age". The Hilary Shuard Memorial Lecture will be given by Angela Walsh, professional officer for mathematics at SCAA, and the closing lecture, "Mathematics, Queen or Cinderella?" will be given by Professor Tony Gardiner.
There will be a wide variety of workshops including dyslexia in maths, and the new generation of calculators. A full residential package at the conference will cost Pounds 190 and the cost for day visitors is Pounds 32.
