No justice for councils either;Letter

Your report headlined "Councils called in over black exclusions" (TES, March 5) shows once again that there is no justice for local councils. Nor is there justice for pupils.

The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 removed the power of local education authorities to order reinstatement of pupils excluded by schools where it could be shown that the exclusion was unfair.

It is no good rapping the knuckles of local councils for something for which they are no longer responsible - by Government order.
