North York Moors National Park

6th July 2001 at 01:00
The North York Moors National Park contains some of England's most attractive and varied scenery, from heather-bright hills to spectacular seacoasts. Despite foot and mouth disease, the park authority is promoting a series of summer activities. These include walking, climbing, abseiling and kayaking events and, for small children, a teddy bears' picnic. There are exhibitions of arts and crafts, many of which draw on local features. Windsurfing, life-boating and dinghy sailing add the North Sea's challenges to those of the land. The Summer Events Programme 2001 is available from North York Moors National Park Authority, The Old Vicarage, Bondgate, Helmsley, York YO62 5BP. Tel: 01439 770657. Fax: 01439 770691.
