Not everyone wants to go on strike

John Walder (Letters, 18 November) did not get the complete story on the disinformation put out by schools minister Nick Gibb ("Teachers' pensions are still the best around", 11 November). His figures excluded all reference to the lump sum that is currently included in teachers' pension entitlement. Therefore, his comparison was based on a 60th calculation against the 80th (plus a lump sum of which he made no mention) that is currently used, hence suggesting a better deal where none exists.

What a dreadful indictment of this Government that it is deliberately trying to mislead the public about the changes it has proposed.
