Eighty-seven fruit trees and silver birches were planted in just one day by children from Hampshire Collegiate School. Pupils will chart the development of the trees over time and watch wildlife on a webcam.

Truro and Penwith College students joined forces with hair and beauty professionals to take part in the Cornish Skills Challenge.

World Maths Day saw children from Barming Primary School near Maidstone, Kent, compete with others from across the globe in an online maths contest.

Students from Prenton High School for Girls, Birkenhead, will represent the UK in RoboCup 2011 in Istanbul this July. A squad of robots created by the team will compete in the finals.
