MAKE SOME NOISE: TUNE INTO THE NHS Students aged 11 to 19, divided into three age groups, are invited to make a radio commercial, by March 31, for recruiting National Health Service staff. Accompanying pack contains a cassette of radio adverts and worksheets linked to the media component of key stage 34 English and to careers education.

Wind-up and solar-powered radios will go to regional winners and the three national winners will get to visit the BBC Experience and an advertising agency and their schools will receive up to pound;1,000-worth of audio equipment. Details: 0845 605 0216.

ANIMAL TAILS: ALL ABOUT CATS AND DOGS This free key stage 2 pack, sponsored by Friskies Petcare, has been sent out to primary schools. After working through the activities, pupils are invited to write a 100-word poem or story from a pet's viewpoint and include a drawing or photograph.

Closing date: March 31.

T E UTLEY MEMORIAL AWARDS Aspiring journalists at school or university are invited to submit articles of up to 1,200 words on "Leaving economic questions aside, what political or cultural arguments do you find most telling against our joining the Euro?"
