NTL community trial under way in Swindon

5th January 2001 at 00:00
Pupils, teachers and parents in Swindon are taking part in a trial of NTL's community Internet project. One thousand homes will be linked to schools on the Net on PCs or digital television. NTL expects its online community, which includes broadband inks to schools, to be realised nationally by 2005. As well as allowing schools to take teaching beyond the classroom, there will be savings in terms of time, equipment and economies of scale, said NTL CEO Barclay Knapp.
