"Raising achievement" is the theme of a Gender and Mathematics Association conference at Nottingham University on June 10. Speaking will be Anita Straker, deputy director of education, Camden, and Teresa Smart, University of North London. Workshops include Girls and Graphic Calculators; Assessment; and "Does maths teaching reinforce masculinity?". Fee: Pounds 12, Pounds 10 members, Pounds 8 unwaged.
