Nutrition is not to be scoffed at

I was interested to read of your Get Active Campaign. Clearly urgent action is needed to tackle obesity not only in schools but also within the wider community.

Your approach is very commendable but in relation to diet, more importance should be given to the teaching of food choice and nutrition through practical application.

When the national curriculum was being formulated home economics teachers and their advisers campaigned hard and long to retain the nutrition aspect of food in the technology curriculum, but sadly failed when it was put into science. They predicted then what is happening now to the nation's health.
