An offer school couldn't refuse

HOUSING developers have approached one of Britain's grandest girls'

boarding schools with an offer it cannot refuse. St Mary's school in Wantage has been offered more than pound;10 million for its 13-acre site and buildings, which date from 1684. After 130 years, the pound;20,000-a-year school is considering moving to a larger site in the area.
