Reports of GTCS cases in TESS (31 August)

- Does anyone else think we could do without the reports in TESS naming people who have been removed from the GTC register? It seems a bit intrusive. Do we need to know that someone was removed from the register for not sharing learning intentions in some lessons? Strewth!

- These hearings are held in public. The press sit at the back. They are bound to publish. It may make uncomfortable reading, but there's nothing that can be done about it.

- I think it's instructive for the rest of us to witness how the process of removing unfit teachers works.

- What you possibly don't know is what led up to those observations. It is likely there were already serious concerns regarding the effectiveness of the teacher, so support would have been given to help improve their performance. I suspect that the "nitpicking" will be related to specific targets that were set for that teacher to show how he was improving.

- I hadn't read the report behind this case. Having done so, I am still not convinced of the merit of publishing such colleagues' names in TESS. It smacks of rubbing salt into a wound. Yes, the details are available for those who want to read them, but why do their careers have to end with a naming and shaming in TESS?
