Who is noting our concerns? (30 November)
- I always have a wee chuckle when School Leaders Scotland makes a statement. The government must love SLS, Cosla and the EIS - like free PR! Very good letter, displacement and deflection activities are the watchwords of Scottish educational "leadership". Now we have the "we need leadership at all levels" mantra impregnating the minds of those who like to direct and manage but not get on their knees and do the work. I note that SLS is open to "headteacher, depute headteacher, faculty headPTbusiness managerbursar with a key leadership role?" ... There's not much left, is there?
The world of 'double speak' (30 November)
- Don't hold your breath Jeremy! Great letter, prescient and accurate. We are currently teaching a unit that we haven't written the homework for! It's absolutely nuts!
Prospective trainees make a beeline for schools (30 November)
- "More than seven in 10 new trainee teachers now have a high- quality degree, according to figures ..." So? A school in Ipswich has recently advertised for a "proof reader" who will "chek teechers repots and asessments before sending them home too parents". Makes you wonder?
