Opera opportunity

The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama is joining forces with Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and the Rimsky Korsakov State Conservatory of St Petersburg in an exceptional operatic programme.

In late January and early February, Russian singers will join RSAMD students in a performance of Cendrillon, Massenet's version of Cinderella, at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow and the Edinburgh Festival Theatre.

Scottish Opera will accompany the production and mentor a number of the RSAMD's senior orchestral students, plus technical and production arts students behind the scenes.

Young dancers from Scottish Ballet's senior associates programme will take part in the ball scene.

And Scottish Opera Education and RSAMD Youthworks will team up in an outreach education project for 200 young people from across Scotland.

In February, the RSAMD technical and production arts students and principal singers from the Cendrillon cast will travel to St Petersburg to perform at the Rimsky Korsakov State Conservatory.
