Operatic outburst as the Barber goes to Brent

7th February 2003 at 00:00
Centre stage is Jacob Tomlinson, Year 9, during Claremont High School's recent workshop with the English National Opera project Opera in Focus. In two days, our ENO visitors and music and drama pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 put together a performance of The Barber of Seville, complete with harmonies, solo parts and costumes. It was a natural extension of our work on singing over the past few years. The visit was followed by a trip to see the opera at the ENO in London, with a backstage tour.

Janette Hutchinson, director of music, and Alice Jones-Owen, director of drama, Claremont High School, Brent
