Out with Ofsted

16th March 2012 at 00:00

The position that Ofsted should or should not occupy continues to roll on and with no satisfactory solution in sight (Letters, 9 March). I am firmly of the experienced opinion that Ofsted should be replaced with a system whereby educational establishments inspect each other. This would remove the need for Ofsted and local education authorities, and savings to the taxpayer would be considerable. Simplicity itself.
