Roll up

Instead of using expensive backing paper for displays, use wallpaper. I picked up a few rolls for only a couple of pounds during a sale at a local DIY shop. Wallpaper is durable, there are a variety of textures and patterns to choose from and the colours don't fade.

Literacy links

Set up literacy files for all areas of the curriculum. As you discover new poems, make copies or note down the title and author and put the reference in the most suitable subject file, such as poems about animals or plants for science, poems about colours for art, stories about transport for geography.

This isan excellent way of encouraging cross-curricular links for literacy!

Bond's the game

To teach number bonds to 10, put 10 beads into a clear plastic sandwich bag and mark "10" on a card clipped to the top. The children know the total is always 10, but can see clearly which two numbers make 10 by splitting the beads into two groups.
