Williamwood High janny Peter Watson turns out to be the double of the new Pope. White-haired Peter has risen to the challenge of being called "Benedict" and "Your holiness" amid rumours the art department is making his mitre.

It's good to know ecumenism is alive and well in Clarkston, although Watson swears that he has no German ancestry. But some historically minded members of staff have pointed to the fact that Rudolph Hess landed not far off near Eaglesham in 1942.
