Pay rise plea

The teacher unions representing staff in sixth-form colleges have asked for "a significant increase in the salaries" of their members. In its submission to the Sixth Form Colleges' Employers' Forum the joint council for staff said teachers were lagging behind other occupations for graduates.

The employers said they will consider the submission, however the School Teachers' Review Body award of 2.7 per cent is expected to be influential.
