IRELAND: A close result is expected today in a ballot of 17,000 secondary teachers on a labour court recommendation to resolve their year-long pay dispute.

The annual Easter congress of the Association f Secondary Teachers' Ireland voted three to one against the recommendation and in favour of working to rule. The teachers have been pushing for a 30 per cent rise.
