"Politically correct" teachers failed to deal with racial tensions at a secondary school that led to a teenager being attacked by a gang of Asian pupils, the High Court heard on Tuesday.

Henry Webster, then 15, suffered a fractured skull and brain damage in the 2007 attack and 12 people were jailed. His parents are now seeking #163;1 million compensation from the Ridgeway Foundation School near Swindon. They claim there was a negligent failure to maintain proper discipline and deal with the formation of an Asian gang.
