Penalised for being ill
That these exams are of no benefit to children makes an ill child's attendance at school a double absurdity.
The sight of ill children being marched into school in order to boost its position in a league table is a sad reflection on the current education system.
The pressure placed on Year 6 children to pass their Sats is as great as any other they will experience in their academic career To their relief, they will find that proper exams later in their lives allow for re-sits or concessionary marking for special circumstances.
