RICHARD Parker, head of Lodge Park Technology College, Corby, Northamptonshire, has been appointed principal designate at Beauchamp College, Leicester. He will succeed Maureen Cruikshank who retires at the end of the summer term after 20 years' service. Mr Parker serves on the national committee of the Specialist Schools Trust. Beauchamp is a 2,000-pupil 14-19 specialist technology and community college.

SHREWSBURY College of Arts and Technology has appointed Greg Molan as principal. He was vice-principal at Tile Hill College, Coventry, then led the restructuring of City College, created from a merger with Coventry Technical College in 2002. City College is now at the heart of plans to develop post-16 provision in Coventry.

EXAMINATIONS board, Edexcel, has appointed Rick Firth to the new role of BTEC director. His remit will include responsibility for the BTEC brand, including marketing, business development and customer service, and responsibility for Edexcel's international business. With more than 15 years' experience in the education sector, he has held senior board positions with leading commercial education firms such as Pearson Education and NCC Education.
