Jane Scott Paul, deputy secretary of the Association of Accounting Technicians and former head of its education and training division, will replace John Hanson as AAT secretary when he retires at the end of this year. The AAT is the first professional body to award national vocational qualifications in accounting and export the concept successfully to 17 countries.

The National Children's Bureau has appointed Ruth Tuckey, formerly manager of an adoption team at the Catholic Children's Society, as assistant panel manager of its Inner and North London Panel of Guardians ad Litem and Reporting Officers.
