Dr Colin Gray, formerly a senior lecturer at the Open University Business School, has been promoted to the post of director of external affairs. He takes over from Tony Stapleton, who is remaining at OUBS as a senior lecturer.

The school provides management development through distance learning in 21 countries.Ian Power, head of physics and housemaster at Millfield School, Somerset, will become headmaster at Lord Wandsworth College, Hampshire, in September. Marjorie Brunt, a Millfield physics teacher, has won an award for teaching excellence from the Institute of Physics.Margaret Rees-Boughton, UK regional manager (Midlands-Anglia) for the Royal Society of Arts Examination Board, has been appointed RSA's regional manager for the Gulf region, based in Oman.
