Peter Wilby states

13th December 2002 at 00:00
* Peter Wilby states that "some Etonians (or their parents at any rate) might well be deterred by a pound;10,000 Oxford fee" (TES, November 15). He is utterly mistaken: Etonian parents are highly unlikely to be deterred by any scale of fees, short of monstrous. It will be families that cannot be caricatured as either "rich" or "poor" who will face the greatest disincentive to university education.
