Poor 'invent essay activities'

27th June 2003 at 01:00
POOR parents can afford to spend so little to keep their children amused during the summer break that some help them invent activities for the September essay on what they did during the holidays, according to a new report from Barnardo's. Parents struggle because of the loss of free meals during the holiday period and the need to save up for next term's school uniform, it says. "Wish you were here", price pound;3.50, is available from Barnado's on 01268 520224.
