Poor show

(Photograph) - Poor show: They're normally seen sporting clothes bearing phrases such as "Say no to Sats" and "Education not capitalism". But this year delegates at the National Union of Teachers' annual conference were united under a wholly different banner: "Make Poverty History". White wristbands, produced to show solidarity with the campaign against third world debt, became the must-have accessory for all delegates on left and right alike. They rapidly sold out at all NUT conference stalls.
