Post card poem

Eureka! Hurrying home with my three-year old in her buggy, suddenly, out of the bright blue, she announces, (quite matter-of-factly,) "Butter comes from sunshine," Of course the buggy stops in mid-flight and Mum does a quick calculus, gazing down at the small sticky-cheeked Archimedes, kissing the little metaphysical genius, noting the distinctly drippy summer sun, buggying on to a new Eureka- song.

Grace Nichols is the author of several books for adults and children. Her latest adult collection published by Virago this summer, is Sunris.
