RARELY have I seen the ills of education so clearly illustrated than in the Christmas Debate over who runs our school, (TES, December 29). Conservative Theresa May and Liberal Democrat Matthew Taylor both display a commitment to an ideological position that relegates education to the roleof "also ran" and is blind to the damage they inflict on the potential achievement of children. In each case education is a political football to be booted around at will to facilitate their broader agenda for social advance.
