IT was lovely to read Roger McGough's contribution to curriculum development (TES, January 19) - if only! You're right, Roger, the literacy hour would have stifled your creativity - yours, Henri's, Rosen's etc.

Literacy teaching is so sterile an vacuous that I can't see where sensitive poets are going to come from. Dragging the literacy hour into key stage 3 will surely be the final nail in the "creativity" coffin.
