JOHN Howson stated, in a prominent position, that an average FE lecturers' salary was pound;25,010 in March 1999 (TES, January 12). Louise Jowett's letter pointing out that the top of the scale is still only pound;25,000 appeared in E Focus. Lecturers, aware that their salaries are well below schoolteachers', would like others to know and for Ms Jowett's letter to have been on this page.
