What an extraordinary outburst from Stephen Jones (TES, August 31).

Conference motions exist so teachers, the media and the public can debate issues. We debated 20 - the media choose the ones they wish to report.

Of course, teachers are normal human beings with problems, but are television programmes diverse enough in their portrayal of teachers to avoid them being represented purely as either saints or sinners?
