I READ the article on the geographical limitations of specialist schools with some interest (TES October 13). I have had a specialist arts bid rejected on two occasions mainly, I suspect, because I am in an Excellence in Cities area without the privilege of being a nominatd school.

The Government has rightly focused on inclusion. Where then is the logic in allowing about 20 per cent of our schools to benefit from a higher level of funding?
